WHO’S YOUR HERO? Red Cross Seeks Nominees for Hometown Heroes Honor
Published on January 10, 2012
NEW PHILADELPHIA— The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross is now accepting nominations for its annual Hometown Heroes Campaign, presented by the Chesapeake Energy Corporation.
Each year the Hometown Heroes Campaign honors local individuals who have had an extraordinary impact on the community or have demonstrated the values of courage, character, humanity, or personal initiative. Members of the community are invited to nominate a local hero for consideration. Honorees will be selected by a committee of individuals from our community, including former Hometown Hero recipients.
“The Hometown Heroes’ Campaign is an opportunity to celebrate the spirit of humanitarianism by honoring the everyday heroes of our hometown communities,” said Executive Director, Chad Conrad. “We have many heroes among us and the Red Cross believes that it is important for our community to recognize those individuals that surround us everyday and most often go unrecognized.”
The following are areas to consider when searching for a hero to nominate: Youth, Public Safety, Animal, Education, Senior Adult, Work Place, Carroll County Community, Harrison County Community, Tuscarawas County Community, and Health Care.
Individuals can also be nominated online at www.mlcredcross.org. Nomination forms are also available at the Red Cross, public libraries and area businesses.
Current Hometown Hero Sponsors include: Allstate – Taylor Insurance & Financial, Atwood Lake Boats, Chesapeake Energy, First National Bank of Dennison, Hennis Care Center of Dover & Bolivar, Huntington National Bank, Lauren Manufacturing, and Novogradac & Company LLP.
“We greatly appreciate the generous support received for this event. The support enables us to continue to honor these individuals as well as continue our daily mission of relief, response and preparedness to the residents of Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas counties,” said Board Chairman, Linda Egler.”
The Muskingum Lakes Chapter will honor and celebrate the individuals at the Hometown Heroes Awards Dinner on April 12th at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center – Myron Phillips Hall. Four youth will also be recognized at the dinner for the Heroes Writing Contest which is presented by The Times Reporter. Steve Kelley of WTUZ Radio 99.9 will preside over the evening’s celebration.
