American Red Cross - Muskingum Lakes Chapter

Bloodmobile

buddy-the-blood-dropNearly six million volunteer blood donations are made to the American Red Cross each year, making the Red Cross the nation’s largest blood supplier. In this country, every 10 seconds someone needs blood. The Red Cross hopes to avoid both shortages of blood and excesses in the blood supply by carefully planning blood drives. Only about 4 to 9 percent of the population donates blood, so there is a great need for more volunteer blood donors.

The Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the Red Cross provides monthly bloodmobile services. Often, you might meet Buddy the Blood Drop at one of our Bloodmobiles. For a list of the dates and times of our upcoming bloodmobiles, please see the Upcoming Events Page.

Some Facts About Blood Donation

  • The Red Cross enhances blood safety by questioning all blood donors about their medical history and their risk behavior.
  • Each blood donation is tested for infectious disease, including hepatitis and HIV.
  • Blood donors can give a pint as often as every two months.
  • It is not possible to contract the AIDS virus by donating blood. The needle is sterile and used only once, and the nurses wear gloves.

Become a blood donor today! Remember, blood donors give the gift of life!
